Buxom Dolly On Stage Lip Plumper Set Review
Do you need another Lip Plumper?
Let’s face it, when you are over 40, the lips start losing their firmness and start looking less plump. I have always had small lips so it didn’t take much for me to start feeling really deflated. I am always on the search for a lip plumper that can perk me up and keep the lips looking full and supple. When I saw this set in Ulta I had to give it a try.
Who is Buxom?
Being founded in 2007, Buxom is an established makeup brand known for its sexy sultry cosmetics and notably its lip plumper. Their brand statement says it best quoting to go big, be bold, and feel sexy. And this is exactly what this Doly On Stage set does.
What is Dolly On Stage?
The Dolly on Stage Plumping Lip Set is comprised of a Mini Full-On Plumping Lip Polish Gloss in the color Dolly, a Mini Power Line Plumping Lip Liner Mini Crayon in the color Dangerous Dolly, and a Mini Power-full Plump Lip Balm in the color Dolly Fever. All three of these are packaged in a box that is as fun and glitterful as you would expect from Buxom.
How much is the set?
This set has a retail value of $32 but is sold for $25. A perfect value and a great gift. A full-size Full-On Plumping Lip Polish Gloss is $23. A full-size Power Line Plumping Lip Liner Mini Crayon retails for $19. And the Mini Power-full Plump Lip Balm is $19. To be able to test out all three of these products in the mini sizes for $25 is a great investment. I was able to test if I like the color and the products for around the same investment of just one full-size version of these.
What color is Dolly?
I love this set. As a fair-skinned woman who is used to wearing bright colors, I was having a hard time finding a color that didn’t make me feel washed out. In addition, my lips aren’t very plump. The 40s can do that to a woman’s lips. So lighter colors tend to make my lips look even smaller, something which I’m very self-conscious about.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the color and the products themselves. The color has a bit of a pinkish-mauve tone to it. Perfect for an everyday shade. While each product can stand on its own and be worn just as is, I preferred to use all three together.
Does this lip plumper sting?
Unlike other lip plumpers that can have that bee sting feeling, this one has a peppermint smell and feel. – a cooling effect on the lips that I liked. I found myself reaching for this to reapply because I liked the feeling and smell, something that I don’t do when I have on a stinging plumper.
But did it plump?
I’m not completely sure I saw any plumping effect from the actual product itself. I overline my lips so that my lips appear more full and this product looked like my lips normally do with an overline. So if you are in it for the plump maybe this isn’t for you. For me, the colors and feel of this set were enough to make this a win in my book.
