The Ultimate L’Oreal Lash Primer Review
You may have seen L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer or L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Primer and you are wondering which product is for you. Let’s face it, as we women age, our lashes tend to become thinner and shorter, making it harder to achieve that bold, luscious look with mascara alone. So I bring to you, my ultimate L’Oreal Lash Primer Review!
Why would you use a lash primer?
I personally love the look of fake lashes but I’m terrible at applying them and they always bump up against my glasses. I have not yet explored lash extensions but this is where lash primer comes in handy: for women over 40 who want to enhance their lashes and achieve a youthful look. A friend of mine recommended the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer (white container) and the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise primer and I had to know all the details.
What is lash primer?
Just like we would use any other makeup primer, a lash primer is a layer that is applied to your eyelashes to provide a smooth base to apply your mascara. It is designed to coat and condition your lashes, making them look longer, thicker, and more voluminous. Sign me up for all of the above, please.
Is lash primer safe and healthy?
Many people wonder if lash primer is healthy for their lashes, The answer is that it depends on the specific product and the individual. Some lash primers contain ingredients that can be irritating to sensitive skin or cause allergic reactions. Both L’Oreal lash primers are fragrance free. The L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Primer is essential oil free, and has ingredients that promote soft, nourished lashes over time. The L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Primer does contain rose oil but both options have been tested with opthalmologists and are great for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
How do you apply lash primer?
To get the most out of your lash primer, it’s essential to apply it correctly. The best way to apply lash primer is to start with clean and dry lashes. Make sure there is no leftover makeup or oils on your lashes as this can affect the primer’s ability to adhere properly. Next, apply a small amount of primer to the base of your lashes, working your way up to the tips. Be sure to apply the primer evenly and avoid clumps or excess product. Once you’ve applied the primer, wait a few seconds for it to dry before applying your mascara. This will ensure that the primer sets and provides a smooth base for your mascara to adhere to. By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your lash primer is applied correctly and provides the best possible results.
So which L’Oreal Lash Primer is best?
Both L’Oreal lash primers are great options to try and are top rated on almost every site that I checked out. They are super affordable options to try out for first time trying lash primer, so I purchased both of them to compare. The L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Primer was $8.99 and the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara Primer was $12.79 when I purchased.
The Voluminous Lash Primer is a white color when applied, just like the tube color. I was a bit concerned this would dull the look of my black mascara but it actually made the lashes pop. I just did one coat of primer to see the difference and then two coats of my everyday mascara (Benefits Bad Gal Bang) on top. So far the lashes look great. Added length and volume to my lashes, for sure.
I ran the same comparison, same eye and same application process as the Voluminous Lash Primer. The Lash Paradise primer is black color when applied, just like a mascara. I love the look of this one just a bit more. I felt this one gave more volume and plump to my lashes than the first. Both were outstanding in making my lashes look more full and much closer to that false lash look than if I had not used a primer.
For me, the lash paradise wins out by a hair. But this is going to be a personal choice. I’ll admit having both on hand I have used both at different times. I try mostly to use lash paradise but sometimes I grab the voluminous lash primer and I feel just as beautiful with that one. There’s no right answer here so pick which one works best for YOU and your eyes.
Does mascara primer hold the curl?
Mascara primer can help hold the curl of your lashes, but it can depend the individual’s lashes. The effectiveness of mascara primer in holding the curl of your lashes may vary depending on factors such as the type and quality of mascara you use, the shape and length of your lashes, and the technique you use to apply your mascara. I curl my lashes prior to applying the primer and both of these have held up for 12+ hour wear.
Is it worth using lash primer?
Once again this is going to be a personal preference. What I can tell you is that since I started using these lash primers, I don’t ever skip this step when applying my mascara. It’s much faster than trying to apply fake lashes for me. Plus I don’t have to deal with the lashes being too long and hitting my glasses. I get the full volume and eye definition that I want without all the hassle. I would say it’s definitely worth at least trying out one of the L’Oreal Lash Primers to see if you like it. Everyone I have recommended this to has not been disappointed.

I’m not a huge makeup fanatic like my sister. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t get the urge to ‘doll up’ every once and awhile when I go out. I’ve seen this in store before, but have never thought to by it before now. But your post has me thinking otherwise! Thanks so much for sharing!
I hope you try it. Everyone deserves to get dolled up every once in a while. Enjoy!
Very informative and I definitely want to try. I’m 46 and I’m over the fake lashes. This sounds so much healthier and convenient way to have beautiful lashes. Thank you!
I hope you love it. I, too, am over fakes but they look so nice. Lol
I have never tried lash primer but it’s obvious it works!! I’ll need to give it a try! Great review 🙂
